Sydney market open time: the ASX
On the Australian Securities Exchange, normal trading runs from about 10:00 AM (09:59:45, with a random 15-second start) to 4:00 PM Sydney time, followed by the closing single price auction from 4:10 PM (ASX).
Daylight saving in Sydney
Sydney uses daylight saving in the southern summer: clocks go forward on 4 October 2026 and back on 4 April 2027 (NSW Government). Because Sydney and New York change clocks in opposite seasons, the gap between them is 14, 15 or 16 hours depending on the time of year.
