When is the forex market closed?
- Every weekend, from Friday 5:00 PM to Sunday 5:00 PM New York time.
- On holidays, the market is not officially closed, but trading is thin when major centres are closed. Many brokers close or shorten trading on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. Your broker’s holiday notice is the final word.
Why is the forex market closed today?
If today is Saturday, or Sunday before 5:00 PM New York time, the market is closed for the weekend. On a weekday, check whether your broker has a holiday schedule, or whether you are trading a product with exchange hours, such as currency futures, which pause every day from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM Central Time (CME Group).
What session is it right now?

There is no official schedule for forex sessions: the foreign exchange market is traded over the counter between banks and brokers around the world.
